So, your friend signed onto MSN or Live messenger on your computer. They happened to have new emaill messages and they choose not to check’em. After they sign out, you noticed the number of new emails is shown at the logon screen. Don’t worry, you’re not the only person that’s paying attention to the details. I personally dislike this stupid message too.

You have two options to get rid of it. Either ask your friend to come back and sign on to messenger again. Or you can to tweak the windows registry a little to make it disappear. So, click on Start > Run > Type in “regedit” > Enter. Then navigate to:

Double click on MessageCount and change the Value Data to 0 (zero). This is how to get rid of the annoying email message count at the logon screen.

First, there were computers, bulky ass computers. I remember the first computer I played with weighted a million pounds. These few years, corporations started thin-clients. Cut down the cost and spaces tremendously. But, just how “thin” these thin-clients have to be? My answer is the smaller the better.

Look at this baby from ChipPC. Weight less than a pound, equipped with all the connections (VGA, LAN, USB and Audio in/out). Just a little bigger than your PDA device. I hooked it up with the Citrix server, it’s smooth like rest of the thin-clients that are 4 times it’s size. No, you cannot play “Call of Duty 4″ on it. We use it for productivity stuff like Office and medical software. BTW, they have another cool model that mounts onto the wall, looks like a power outlet. One day, these small guys will take over the business information systems. And will eliminate the real PC’s.

枪击事件在美国就是家常便饭。在治安比较烂的城市可能被打了路人都不会回头看，直接报警或叫白车。我在一家医院工作。这家医院有湾区最厉害的抢救室 ER，正好在一个“烂”城市。每天Trauma多到爆。有心脏病的、车祸意外的，当然还少不了枪击。就连警察被抢打了都会跑这儿来抢救。其他医院做不来的抢救都要往我们这送。。呵呵，可想而知这里的医生一定是经验丰富了。

被抢击中的人我第一次看见，今天上ER抢修一台电脑的时候突然听到医院大门有人按喇叭，一台黑色的SUV跳下一个6尺高的老黑开了后门将一个人扶下，见那人穿着红衣服。仔细一看原来是白的，只是上面有很多血。警察马上跑了过去封锁现场不让任何人靠近和离开。护士支着病床往那边跑。哦，我终于明白了，那个人被抢打了，可能会死。那可怜的老黑摔倒在地上，可怜兮兮的趴着。他兄弟很着急可只有一只手能帮他，另一只手在打电话。我想可能是在聚集其他的兄弟们来帮小弟报仇雪恨吧。病床从我身边划过，老黑都变成老红了。我觉得有点头晕，想吐。。。靠，这种场面我第一次见到。从前只是亲身经历过。。。哎，难过的往事不再提。。。

不知道他现在是否还活着，如果他还在的话、我祝福他早日康复。康复后改变他对人生的看法。

I ran into this error message saying “The Print Subsystem Is Unavailable” today. I have never seen this before, and I had no clue of how to fix it. Wait… Microsoft says:

This behavior occurs because Office 2000 Setup stops the print spooler at certain points during the installation process. When the fax driver for Microsoft Outlook 2000 is installed, the spooler is stopped and may not be restarted. 

So, I used net start spooler in command, then it restarted the spooler. It works! WOW!!!!!!!
